Project Management Assistant
📍 Houston Area | 💲$21.00/hr | Monday–Friday | Full-Time
Are you highly organized, detail-oriented, and looking for an opportunity to support projects from start to finish in a fast-paced technical environment? We are seeking a Project Management Assistant to support project teams through administrative coordination, sample tracking, logistics, and data management activities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, enjoys working with data, and can quickly learn new systems and processes.
What You'll Do
- Generate project job numbers and enter sample information into internal tracking systems.
- Manage project documentation, files, and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Package, label, track, and coordinate movement of project-related samples.
- Work closely with project managers, laboratory personnel, and warehouse teams to support project execution.
- Assist with project status updates, workflows, and reporting.
- Coordinate sample shipments, courier services, and urgent "hot shot" deliveries.
- Track sample receipt, processing status, and proactively resolve issues.
- Compile and organize information for final project reports.
- Support various administrative and project coordination tasks as needed.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years of administrative, project support, logistics, or related experience.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Fast and accurate typing/data entry skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new software, processes, and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with shipping, logistics, inventory, or sample management.
- Familiarity with laboratory, industrial, manufacturing, or technical environments.
- Experience coordinating shipments, couriers, or time-sensitive deliveries.
- Exposure to project management or project coordination activities is a plus.
Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based but will require time spent in a laboratory and sample handling environment. Candidates must be comfortable:
- Working around diesel, hydrocarbon, and industrial odors.
- Handling physical samples that may involve dirt, dust, or residue.
- Wearing appropriate PPE when required.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Moving between office, warehouse, and laboratory areas as needed.
