Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Construction Safety Manager to lead and oversee all safety operations across multiple commercial construction projects. This critical leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing comprehensive safety programs that ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and industry best practices while fostering a strong culture of safety throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on safety professional who works collaboratively with project teams, field leadership, and subcontractors to minimize risk, prevent incidents, and promote safe work practices across all active jobsites.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Management
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Create and maintain site-specific safety plans for active construction projects.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Review and approve subcontractor safety plans and verify alignment with company standards.
Field Safety Operations
- Conduct regular jobsite inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Identify hazards, unsafe practices, and areas for improvement.
- Develop corrective action plans and monitor implementation.
- Participate in project planning activities to proactively address safety concerns.
Training & Development
- Deliver safety orientations and ongoing training for employees, supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Provide instruction on hazard recognition, fall protection, excavation safety, scaffolding, electrical safety, PPE usage, crane operations, and other construction-related safety topics.
- Promote employee engagement and accountability in safety initiatives.
Incident Investigation & Compliance
- Lead investigations of incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage events.
- Conduct root cause analyses and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
- Track corrective actions and monitor effectiveness.
- Serve as the primary point of contact during regulatory inspections and audits.
Safety Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain safety records, certifications, permits, training documentation, and compliance files.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and prepare reports for executive leadership.
- Utilize construction management and safety software platforms to manage reporting and documentation.
Leadership & Culture
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Recognize and reinforce safe work behaviors.
- Stay informed on emerging safety regulations, technologies, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years of progressive construction safety experience.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and construction safety regulations.
- Experience conducting safety audits, investigations, and employee training.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel regularly to jobsites throughout the greater Houston area.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
- CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) certification.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification.
- Experience working for a General Contractor.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, civil, or high-risk construction activities.
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- First Aid/CPR Instructor certification.

Work Environment
This position requires regular travel between active construction projects and office locations. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in both field and office environments and capable of performing jobsite inspections in varying weather and construction conditions.
