About This Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Lab Technician to support calibration and repair work on precision measurement tools and metrology equipment. This role is a strong fit for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and interested in building a long-term technical skill set in calibration, inspection, and quality support.
You will start by working with common precision hand tools such as micrometers, indicators, and calipers. You will also receive training from a Level 3 Technician on larger onsite calibration projects involving equipment such as optical comparators, Mic Trac systems, and granite plates.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with tools, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and learning a specialized trade.
Key Responsibilities
Calibration and Repair
- Calibrate and repair precision hand tools, including micrometers, indicators, calipers, and similar measuring instruments
- Inspect tools for accuracy, wear, damage, and proper function
- Perform adjustments, cleaning, and basic repairs as needed
- Follow established calibration procedures and quality standards
- Document calibration results accurately
Metrology Equipment Support
- Assist with calibration of pressure, temperature, and other metrology equipment when needed
- Learn proper setup, handling, and use of larger inspection equipment
- Train with a Level 3 Technician on onsite calibration work
- Support calibration of optical comparators, Mic Trac systems, granite plates, and related equipment
Quality and Documentation
- Maintain accurate service records and calibration documentation
- Ensure work is completed with attention to detail and traceability
- Follow internal procedures to support quality and compliance requirements
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
Customer and Team Support
- Work closely with senior technicians, lab staff, and service teams
- Communicate equipment issues, repair needs, and job status clearly
- Support timely completion of customer equipment and service requests
- Assist with general lab duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on technical work
- Experience using or working around hand tools
- Ability to learn calibration procedures and measurement standards
- Strong attention to detail
- Dependable, organized, and willing to be trained
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic PC and Windows competency
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with micrometers, calipers, indicators, or other precision tools
- Exposure to pressure, temperature, or metrology equipment
- Background in manufacturing, machining, inspection, quality control, or industrial service
- Experience reading measurements, tolerances, or technical documentation
- Familiarity with calibration labs or ISO quality environments

Prior calibration experience is helpful, but not required if you have the right attitude, attention to detail, and willingness to be trained.
